Samsung has formally unveiled the world’s very first device running of the hottest Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 (WP8) platform at the IFA event happening in Berlin. This announcement delivers a kick to Nokia who has an intimate collaboration with Microsoft and they are going to release new Nokia WP8 smart phones a few days later.
The new WP8 Samsung smartphone is dubbed as ‘ATIV S’ and comes with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD screen which is reinforced with robust Gorilla Glass II. The device has a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with 1GB of RAM. The smart phone will be available in two editions - 16GB and 32GB.
Additional mentionable features within this new Windows smartphone are; 8 megapixel back camera, 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera, microSD card slot to increase the internal memory and the 2,300 mAh battery. The device looks great and quite thin containing a thickness of merely 8.7mm.
Samsung has not exposed the charges and availability of the smartphone, however we expect it is going to strike the world market by October.
